The Organisation

HSA is an independent not for profit organisation operating as a hub to provide research, innovation and commercial services to a membership base. HSA provides a centralised point for accessing innovative information and services to improve soil health and production.

HSA has a business structure to ensure the cost effective provision of services. The HSA structure is inclusive to allow participation by all interested parties. This includes individuals and companies providing services and products as well as those seeking advice and services. It is supported but not controlled by corporate and government sponsors.

The activities of HSA are determined by a limited number of full members selected by invitation from the industry and associate membership. It is controlled by a board of directors having set terms of appointment. As HSA grows a small group of distinguished Australians will invited to act as Trustees of a Land Restoration Fund and oversee the stewardship of our soils and other natural resources on farms.

Participation in HSA is through associate membership and industry partnership. Industries can commercially participate in the application of their technology with promotion through HSA.

Participants will gain access to the latest techniques in:
vegetation, land use and soil constraints mapping
diagnosis of soil problems for mosaic land management planning
soil conditioning for improved plant growth and salinity management
agro-forestry and shelterwood restoration including carbon credits
financing restoration

HSA will support measures to:
Recover urban and industrial wastes for productive use in soil restoration
Remediate degraded lands including areas of dryland salinity
Improve soil structure and fertility
Restore the persistence and quality of stream flows
Increase the productivity and quality of animal and human food
Enhance the economic wellbeing and sustainability of agricultural systems
Protect the sustainability of natural resources, including biota
